The Flying Wallendas Will Cross Times Square in NYC on a High Wire!

Nik Wallenda and Lijana Wallenda, the brother-sister duo from circus stunt family The Flying Wallendas, will cross a high wire 25 stories above the ground across skyscrapers in Times Square.

The event will be streamed live at 8 p.m. ET on ABC on Sunday (June 23).

This is Lijana‘s first time joining her brother since her nearly fatal accident in 2017, when she broke nearly every body in her face while attempting an eight-person pyramid stunt during a Circus Sarasota rehearsal. She has been recovering ever since.

The two will walk from opposite ends of a 1,300-foot wire suspended between skyscrapers, crossing each other in the middle, if all goes according to plan.

They will also be wearing tethered safety harnesses, which are required by the city, in case they fall.

“In this situation especially, with my sister involved, I do feel like it’s very important. With everything that she’s gone through, and that near-fatal accident that she went through a couple years ago that we were all involved in, I just think it’s important,” said Nik to The Wrap.
