Leah Remini will be playing the role of a conservative lesbian in a Fox pilot about a Middle America family.
The pilot, from writers Rob McElhenney and Rob Rosell (the guys behind It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), is about “a woman, her ex-husband and her new wife, who all work together to raise a family in Middle America,” according to THR.
Leah‘s character Jean fits “the stereotype of a typical conservative” in many ways, but she also leads a progressive lifestyle and is married to a woman, Betty. Her ex-husband, Richie, lives in the garage, and they all raise the former couple’s two sons together.
The hope is to get a mid-season pickup at Fox.
