Cynthia Erivo, the Broadway star who rose to stardom in the past year, needs just one more award to complete an EGOT and she has the chance to do it in record time!
The 30-year-old actress won a Tony Award for her work in The Color Purple back in June 2016. She also won a Grammy Award for the show’s cast album and now has added a Daytime Emmy Award to her collection thanks to her performance of a song from the show on NBC’s Today.
Cynthia has won three of the awards included in the EGOT in less than a year and she has nine more years left to win an Oscar if she wants to complete the feat in record time! Frozen and Avenue Q composer Robert Lopez completed the EGOT in ten years.
You will see Cynthia next year in Steve McQueen‘s upcoming thriller Widows and as Harriet Tubman in the upcoming biopic Harriet.
